Gardening with children: talking to kids about plants, seeds and germination
First of all, we hope you all are doing well during this hard period. We’re back to work after Sara’s maternity leave and we are living with daily routine, home office work and children at home. Sure, it is not always an easy thing, but priorities are clear and we consider that we are really really lucky ones (we know it).
During these last weeks we have been spending a lot of time with the kids and this is also something we do appreciate. The baby is doing fine and his brother seems to be good too. Sometimes, he seems a bit upset and he says to us that he misses his friends and the nursery school. We don't ever want to see our kids hurt or upset, right?, so we try to calm him with respectful words and sometimes new activities to discover new things or play around.
One of those activities has been looking for seeds, planting and understanding the process of germination. Sacha was at the beginning hoping for plants to grow, being a bit impatient, and this thing has also helped us to learn about time, waiting and discovering.
We know a lot of you have been also doing the same at home during these weeks. Lentils growing for children is an old thing most of us have done during infancy, right? Instagram accounts we follow are plenty of legumes growing in small pots with a bit of cotton and some water. At home, we do love simple things of life: they are the real ones after all.
